New ServiceNow Data Catalog - Innovation Labs Release v. 0.0.12
The ServiceNow Data Catalog is now available as an Innovation Labs application in the ServiceNow Store. This early MVP release delivers core data discovery and understanding capabilities, enabling organizations to find, trust, and govern data assets — whether they live in ServiceNow or beyond.
Built within the Workflow Data Fabric, the Data Catalog brings metadata management directly into the Now Platform, integrating natively with the platform capabilities your organization already relies on.

Metadata Collectors
Automated harvesting of technical metadata and lineage from six supported sources. Collectors extract schema information, table and column details, and relationship data on a configurable schedule.

Connect Experience
An admin-facing interface for configuring and managing metadata collectors and data source connections. Set up new connections, monitor collector status, and manage connection credentials in one place.

Faceted search across both ServiceNow-native and external data assets. Filter and find databases, schemas, tables, and other assets from a single search experience.
Data Asset Details
Rich detail pages for each data asset showing schema information, descriptions, owners, tags, and related assets. Provides the context data consumers need to understand and evaluate assets before use.
Business Glossary
Define business terms and link them to technical data assets, creating a shared vocabulary across the organization. Bridges the gap between technical metadata and business meaning.
Graph Explorer
Visual explorer for navigating relationships and lineage across data assets. Trace upstream and downstream dependencies to understand how data flows through your systems.
Known Issues:
- NowAssist on the Workflow Data Fabric Home page does not currently work for Data Catalog answers.
- Connection attributes in some metadata collector configurations may be missing their maximum character length settings, which can cause data validation issues while attempting to run a collector. Be sure to follow the documentation to install the attached xml sys_script file.
- Collectors have only been tested w Linux systems. Report issues with other operating systems.
