ServiceNow ESG Management (ESGM) transforms how you manage, visualize, and report on sustainability efforts and risks across the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) spectrum. The tool streamlines data collection, organization, and information storage in one easy-to-use system. Additionally, it automates dashboards and reports for internal audiences and aligns with external disclosures according to ESG standards and frameworks such as CSRD/ESRS, GRI, SASB, UN SDGs, TCFD, and SustainableIT.org.
With ServiceNow ESG Management, users can operationalize ESG across their enterprise using the powerful platform and workflow engine. Functional owners receive automated enterprise data, analytics, and insights to actively participate in the ESG program. This enables the ESG core teams to focus on program execution, compliance, and reporting while fostering organizational buy-in and achieving ESG goals.
The application provides users a seamless user experience. This includes collecting data from internal stakeholders, accessing a metric collection tracking dashboard, utilizing a goal tracking dashboard for internal reporting, and generating reports and disclosures through multiple channels. This can be done directly from ESGM in .xls format or by leveraging the Microsoft 365 plugin to embed and format metric data in a Word document. This integration with Microsoft Office 365 enables embedding up-to-date metrics in your Word reports effortlessly. Content packs provide the ESG metrics contained in GRI (505), TCFD (55), SASB (338), and the UN SDGs (400), and sector-specific MDs for TCFD and SASB. CSRD/ESRS and SustainableIT.org frameworks are also available for download as part of the content accelerator.
ServiceNow ESGM is built on the Now platform's robust workflow platform, which allows every transaction, including every metric data task, to be audited. This ensures that all changes and approvals to each data point are stored on the metric data record, ready for internal and external assurance checks. Given the scrutiny of regulators and investors on data accuracy, users will value the reliability of our consistent data model and controls. Users can combine information from any functional area where ServiceNow is the core system of record, as well as from any other data sets that have been connected to the platform.

- Helps to visualize progress towards goals and targets.
New:
- Import metric data by using a pre-defined import template with instructions. With this process, you can import and manage the metric data within your organization.
- Review the calculated metric definition data by using a formula tree so that you can access detailed information on the operands, metric definitions, metrics, and emission factors.
Changed:
- If you have the ESG manager [sn_esg.metric_manager] role, you can now configure either text, choice, or HTML format options for responses to qualitative metric data tasks that are related to manual metric definitions, including both initial and overridden responses.
- If you have the ESG data owner [sn_esg.data_owner] role, you can now apply filters by using the filter menu and reject or approve tasks from the metric data table side panel. Data owners can now multi-submit and assign approvers to multi-approve or reject tasks, with the option to use choice and HTML response formats.
- If you have the ESG Manager [sn_esg.metric_manager] role, you can now configure the Data Owner Assignment type to be either simple or advanced for manual metric definitions. When you select the Simple option, the system assigns the specified Data Owner or Data Owner Group to the Metric Data Task. If you choose the Advanced assignment option, which is available with the GRC: Approver Configurator application, you can set custom configuration conditions, tables, or data owners to dynamically assign data owners.
