Xanadu
The Visual Builder is an internal tool designed for business units within ServiceNow. It enables the creation of new visualizations that are currently not available in the ServiceNow visualizations library. By leveraging the Highcharts library and potentially incorporating other libraries in the future, Visual Builder empowers users to extend the range of data visualizations beyond the existing offerings in the visualization designer, in-line dashboards and UIB.
Basic customization
- General: Select the visualization type, the name, the category, and an icon.
- Data: Configure the number of metrics and group bys the chart supports; enable/disable trend by for the chart.
- Presentation: Configure what the chart should look like. Available presentation options that can be configured are: Legend, tooltip, Y-axis, X-axis, and data labels
Advanced customization
- Data Formatter: Enables rendering of visualizations that require specific data formats.
- Configuration Generator: Provides extensive modification options for the visual appearance of visualizations beyond standard Presentation settings.
- Tooltip formatter: Enables customizing tooltip data.
Configuration panel customizations
- Configure the sections visible in the configuration panel in inline dashboards, visualization designer, and UIB. For example, enable to changing the chart color in the configuration panel in the visualization designer.
UI Policy:
- Customize data-related properties, offering more detailed control than the data settings in Basic customizations.
- Implement rules and conditions that influence data display and interaction.
New:
- Ability to specify where the chart should be published to (UIB only, Internal UIB component only, inline dashboards & UIB)

- Visual Builder charts appear now no longer at the top in UIB after creation
