Make Offboarding Better Using Journey Accelerator
Offboarding is a hard, often stressful process for managers and their teams. When a team member leaves, the manager is responsible for managing an extensive knowledge transfer. Meanwhile, they need to keep morale on the team high or risk a decline in team morale. However, managers often do not have the resources, experience, or time to organize and facilitate a great offboarding process for their teams.
Journey Accelerator helps managers facilitate a seamless offboarding experience, so they can provide a positive experience for the departing team member and a smooth hand-off for the rest of the team. Managers can leverage organization-provided templates to then personalize and build out their own offboarding plans. They can assign to-dos to other team members to help with the process (if appropriate).
The purpose of Employee Experience Packs is to help explain the power and ease of configuration of ServiceNow to support complex processes and use cases while providing a great experience. The Employee Experience Packs strive to leverage as many of the advanced features of the system, in support of the specific use case, to demonstrate capabilities new customers/users of the system may not be aware exist. The packs are not intended as direct-install processes ready to leverage in a production process flow, but simply to remove anxiety about where to start, or answer the question “what can a good process look like with all the features of ServiceNow?”
How can Journey Accelerator Complement an Offboarding Lifecycle Event?
Journey Accelerator can be used with or without Lifecycle Events. For those of you who use Lifecycle Events in your organization, you may be wondering the difference and when you should use Lifecycle Events vs. Journey Accelerator. To summarize, Lifecycle Events helps manage experiences across departments to support employee and admin productivity. Meanwhile, Journey Accelerator eliminates manager's manual tasks, so they can be more productive and provide the employee an enhanced experience as they navigate their transition.
In a Lifecycle Offboarding Event, all organization-required, cross-departmental activities are triggered. Activities can include, but are not limited to:
-
Facilitating the collection of the employee’s badge, laptop, and other company assets
-
Transfer of benefits
-
Removal of systems access
-
Distribution of information regarding separation policies
-
Conducting exit interviews
From the Lifecycle Event, admins can trigger the creation of a Journey Accelerator plan. Journey Accelerator plans should include the recommended activities that create a best-in-class offboarding journey for the departing team member, manager, and the entire team. Journey Accelerator eliminates the manual tasks a manager should do as part of the journey. Activities can include, but are not limited to:
-
Knowledge transfer between team members
-
Team farewell activities
-
Ongoing activity handoff
-
Team communications
-
Ensure that the departing team member keeps in touch and joins the alumni network
This Employee Experience Pack Feature Accelerator contains the following:
- Plan Type for Offboarding
- Plan Configuration for Offboarding
- Two Stages in the Plan configuration
- Knowledge Transfer
- Farewell Activities
- Seven to-do templates in the two stages
