This App is for Chef Automate customers to reliably update their CMDB data within ServiceNow in addition to having compliance and configuration status across the Enterprise. Using the Data Feed functionality in Chef Automate you can now send node information across to ServiceNow for every node in your fleet that has Chef Infra client runs and Chef InSpec compliance scans ensuring you populate your ServiceNow CMDB with accurate node data.
This integration allows the Enterprise to track configuration and compliance state across their estate making sure they can move towards complete compliance and have a clear view of the configuration status of their entire fleet. Chef enables DevSecOps on a large scale using Chef Automate and ServiceNow in a harmonious integration.
This integration has been designed to allow Enterprises to customize and expand in order to allow for their own use cases with the data brought across from Chef Automate, while also giving some very powerful base-level information built into the ServiceNow CMDB.
Current information able to be stored in ServiceNow for each node with a Chef Client installed is as follows:
-
Hostname, IP Address, DNS Domain, Manufacturer, Serial Number, Model Number, Class, OS, OS Version, CPU Manufacturer, CPU Type, CPU Speed, CPU Count, CPU Core Count, Virtual Machine Yes/No
