Standalone Application
The ServiceNow® Smart Assessment Import Export application enables you to export an assessment to a Microsoft Excel file for offline completion and then import the completed file to load the responses back into the assessment. This supports workflows where the person completing the assessment doesn't log in to the platform and also lets you keep a completed assessment as a portable snapshot for audit or evidence.
- Offline completion in Excel - Export any open or completed assessment as an .xlsx workbook with an instructions sheet and a response sheet, so responders who don't have platform access can answer offline.
- Controlled response import - Load a completed file back into an open assessment, choosing either Replace with Excel data or Keep existing responses. Empty cells are ignored, so an import never clears an existing response.
- Import summary - See how many responses were imported, had errors, or were skipped.
- Per-category control - An assessment administrator enables export, and optionally import, for each template category. Both are off by default.
- Separate permissions for read and write - Anyone with read access to the assessment can export it. Only the primary owner and assessment-level collaborators can import, since import writes to the whole assessment.
- File integrity - Import accepts only the file that was exported from that same assessment.
New:

On import you choose whether file values replace existing responses or existing responses are kept, and an import summary reports imported, error, and skipped counts.
