The Demand Agent solution is a ServiceNow scoped application designed to enhance the Demand Management process by leveraging AI-driven automation to analyze, classify, and plan enterprise demands. This document describes application version 2.0.3.
Organizations often receive demand requests in unstructured formats where business stakeholders describe requirements without clearly defining the technical solution, platform ownership, or implementation complexity. Demand Managers and Solution Architects must manually review each demand, determine whether the request should be fulfilled using ServiceNow capabilities, identify appropriate products, define planning tasks, and estimate required implementation resources.
The Demand Agent application addresses this challenge by introducing an AI-driven demand analysis framework built on ServiceNow’s AI Agent platform and agentic workflows.
The solution orchestrates multiple AI agents to analyze demand descriptions and automatically generate structured outputs that support demand planning and governance. These outputs include:
· classification of the demand as ServiceNow-related or not
· recommended products or solutions
· governance and planning tasks for demand managers
· implementation resource recommendations
· estimated implementation size through a T-shirt size estimation skill
The Demand Agent application provides the following capabilities:
Conversational Demand Intake
A conversational AI agent, the Demand Intake Agent, is available through the ServiceNow Now Assist panel. Users describe a business need in natural language and the agent produces a structured demand record, asking a clarifying question when the request lacks sufficient context.
AI Agentic Workflow for Demand Analysis
An agentic workflow called Demand Context Workflow orchestrates multiple AI agents to analyze demand records and produce structured planning outputs.
This workflow includes four AI agents:
1. Demand Classifier Agent V2
Determines whether the demand is related to ServiceNow capabilities.
2. Demand Product Agent
Recommends ServiceNow products or external solutions required to fulfill the demand.
3. Recommend Demand Tasks Agent
Generates high-level governance tasks to guide demand managers in planning the demand.
4. ResourceAdvisor AI Agent
Determines implementation resources and estimated timelines based on demand scope.
Demand Portfolio Executive Dashboard
A Service Portal widget providing real-time visibility into the demand portfolio, including KPI cards (total demands, by state, fulfillment coverage), a fulfillment bar chart, a filterable demand table with expandable product entitlement rows, and role-based scoping. Users see their own demands; admins can toggle to view all demands.
Demand T-Shirt Size Generator Skill
The solution includes a separate AI skill called Demand T-shirt Size Generator.
This skill evaluates the demand description and estimates the implementation size using a T-shirt sizing model.
The skill is triggered through a UI Action visible to users with the it_demand_manager role and updates the demand record with the generated size estimate & reasoning.
Initial Release
The Demand Agent solution requires the following plugins. Plugin identifiers are given where they apply, because display names have changed between releases while identifiers have remained stable.
· Strategic Portfolio Management, or Demand Management as a minimum. Provides the dmn_demand table the application operates on.
· Now Assist Core. Base Now Assist framework and generative AI controller.
· Now Assist AI Agents (sn_aia). Provides AI Agent Studio, agentic workflow execution and the agent runtime.
· Now Assist for Platform (sn_genai_platform). The Now Assist product application through which the AI agents and the Now Assist panel are surfaced. AI agents are not installed standalone; they are delivered by a Now Assist product application such as this one.
· Now Assist Skill Kit (sn_skill_builder). Provides the Generate T-Shirt Size skill.
· Now Assist in AI Search (sn_ais_assist). Integrates Now Assist with AI Search.
· Now Assist for Creator (sn_now_creator). Provides the Now Assist authoring experience used to build and maintain the agents.
· AI Search. A documented prerequisite for AI agents; AI Agent Studio does not operate without it.
· Web Search. Used by the Demand Product Agent to retrieve product documentation links. Configured by the customer against their own AI provider.
Other Requirements:The following platform prerequisites are not plugins but must be in place:
· A ServiceNow Pro Plus or Enterprise Plus license, which is the documented entitlement for AI agents.
· The sn_aia_admin role, required by the administrator who configures and activates the AI agents and agentic workflows.
· The it_demand_manager role for end users of the application.
