The Enterprise Architecture (EA) Model Context Protocol (MCP) server connects an MCP-compatible AI assistant, such as Claude, to your ServiceNow instance. With MCP for Enterprise Architecture, enterprise architects and application portfolio managers can use natural language queries to get the following information directly in their AI client, without opening the ServiceNow instance:
- Business application insights
- Application rationalization scores
- Business capability mappings
- Relationships between entities, such as business applications, business capabilities, services, databases, and servers, including multi-level impact analysis
- Architectural artifacts linked to entities, such as documents and diagrams
- Modeling diagram summaries and comparisons
- Knowledge graph queries
The tools installed with the application are read-only and don't create, update, or delete records in your instance.
Application rationalization
- Rationalization score queries — Make faster, data-driven investment decisions by instantly retrieving application scores, scorecards, and technology risk ratings across your portfolio, without switching between screens or reports.
- Business application insights from ServiceNow Otto — Generate insights into any business application's health, cost, risk, and strategic fit, so you can prioritize the right applications for investment, migration, or retirement.
Business capability analysis
- Capability hierarchy and application mapping — Understand which applications support which business capabilities across your entire hierarchy, and review capability health over time, so you can identify coverage gaps and make informed rationalization decisions.
Entity relationship analysis
- Portfolio-scale relationship and impact analysis — Identify relationships between entities, find entities with missing relationships, and trace multi-level dependency chains, so you can assess what's affected when a database, server, or application changes or fails.
Architectural artifact analysis
- Artifact discovery — Find the architectural artifacts, such as documents and diagrams, linked to an entity, and the entities that an artifact documents, so you can locate the right architecture documentation quickly.
Modeling diagram analysis
- Diagram summaries and comparisons from ServiceNow Otto — Get detailed summaries of modeling diagrams and compare two versions of a diagram, so you can understand how your architecture has changed.
Enterprise data analysis
- Natural language queries — Ask questions about your enterprise architecture data in plain language and get answers from the EA knowledge graph, based on live data in your ServiceNow instance.
