Agent Client Collector for Visibility-Content turns the ServiceNow endpoint agent into a single source of deep discovery data for your servers, desktops, and laptops — populating the CMDB and Software Asset Management with information that credential-based, agentless scans often can't reach. It complements an agentless approach and extends discovery to more fully and accurately populate the CMDB in line with the Common Service Data Model.
Deployed through the Agent Client Collector Framework, the agent runs directly on managed Windows, macOS, and Linux devices and reports back over a single outbound connection — so roaming laptops, intermittently connected hosts, and zero-trust endpoints stay visible without network access or stored credentials. Devices register in the Computer CMDB table with their details, each reports the software installed on it, and software usage flows into SAM tables — giving IT and asset teams one agent that serves hardware inventory, installed-software normalization, usage metering, SaaS/web-app visibility, and license-key discovery from the same footprint.
- Endpoint and hardware inventory — Registers end-user computers and servers in the CMDB with full host detail. You can discover data from file systems and storage devices, TCP connections, running processes, and other information about target hosts.
- Installed and portable software discovery — Reports the software present on each managed device into SAM for normalization, so your software model reflects what's actually deployed — including software that agentless scans miss.
- Software usage metering — Captures software usage from the device and feeds SAM usage tables, giving you the data to reclaim unused licenses, right-size entitlements, and support true-up and audit positions. The output supports license positioning and license harvesting.
- Web and SaaS usage visibility — Configured monitoring tracks only the websites an administrator has defined as monitored applications; full monitoring tracks all websites accessed in Chromium-based browsers with no pre-configured list. Domain-level usage from managed Windows and macOS devices is stored in the User Web Usage table and periodically aggregated into a consolidated, organization-wide view.
- Software license key discovery — Gives centralized, device-level visibility into software license keys across Windows endpoints through the Software License Key Discovery Framework, enabling duplicate detection and improved audit readiness, with a configurable framework to onboard new publishers.
- Agent-based reach without credentials — Runs where agentless discovery struggles — remote, roaming, and locked-down endpoints — needing only an outbound connection from the agent, with no MID Server credentials on the target.
